Kohls?

July 21st, 2006 at 11:42 pm

Do any of you have a Kohls? Do they have good deals? What store would you compare them to?

We are getting one this Fall...it is replacing our Mervyn's (sniff R.I.P.).

We are also getting a Macy's...that has replaced our Meier and Frank (which is Robinsons May in other places).

Opinions?

We have a Kohl's here in NH. They are similiar to a Kmart, they have a great houseware's dept. and clothing dept. They usually have great sales and a lot of early bird specials. I usually only purchase things on Wed. because that is senior citizens dayand you get an extra 5% off of everything.

Not a senior but I bring my Grandmother with me and just give her cash to pay for it. I know kind of cheating but we always have a good chuckle about it.

She is just as frugal as I am, must be genetic.

Our Kohls is a little more upscale than Kmart. It is like a department store without being attached to a mall. Like an upscale Marshalls or TJMaxx. If you get their credit card they have great deals and specials and after Christmas sales are phenomenal. I did'nt like the little kids clothes (like for your GS and GD) as they did'nt hold up well, stained easily and fell apart. But the other clothes are okay and the shoes and purses are great. They have a large housewares/home decor area and a jewelry/perfume counter. My DH loves it for clearance deals!
Our Famous Barr is turning into a Macy's too. Be interesting to see if anything really changes as far as the merchandise.

We have Kohl's here, too, and I would agree that it's definitely more upscale than Kmart--or Target. From what I recall from the times I've been in Mervyn's, it's similar to that in "class" or scale. They do have good deals there. I'm not much of a shopper so I can't be more specific--most of my purchases there have been women's clothing and accessories, with one or two deals from housewares.

Wow, we don't even have a wal mart, just a dollar store. Oh well, I don't need to spend money anyway!!

In our area, Kohl's is very similar to Penney's, but a little cheaper, I think. It's a good store.

Macy's is very upscale, but has good sales.

You'll be very pleased with Kohl's. They're extremely good to their credit card holders by offering 15% additional off when using the cc and sometimes 20% or 30%.

They frequently run promotions where for every $50 you spend you will get a $10 voucher to use in the next week.

They also price match. Just bring in the advertisement and get the price down. This can be done during the above promos as well. Tough to beat this kind of store!
