$8 for popcorn and $6 for soda....

February 27th, 2012 at 05:09 pm

I mentioned that we were going to see a movie yesterday. We decided to just do the movie experience and buy treats there..OMG. Its been a looooong time since I did that, and it will be a looonger time before I ever do again. SERIOUSLY. $8 for popcorn and $6 for a soda that the hub and I shared. All in all, tickets, popcorn and soda = $29. (this was for the early matinee) And I didnt even like the movie!!!!

Argh.

Oh well, relearned that lesson.

Afterwards, we stopped at the resort pub for a drink. It was fun to just sit and visit and we enjoyed it. I paid for the tab = $28 (inc tip) Then we came home and I cooked up a dozen of the eggrolls I bought at Christmas (from a single mom- I pay extra for them so she can send money to her family in the Phillipeans and they are AWESOME)...everyone loved them.... and the hub made yummy tacos. Finished off the night with a couple more rounds of dominoes and a soak in the hot tub. Slept soooo well last night.

This morning my friend is cooking breakfast and then we will pack up and head home. It has been a super fun weekend. Very relaxing and lots of laughs with good friends.I hate to leave this beautiful winter wonderland!! (its snowing again this morning)

Tomorrow is back to work...but I'll think about that later...

For now, just enjoying the last couple hours of a great get-away!

crazy isn't it? We usually splurge on popcorn and soda when we go out because movies are a rare treat for us. I think the last movie we saw in the theatre was Toy Story 3. :-)

I haven't bought movie popcorn in years (not that we go to the movies all that often anyway), because I could not justify the expensive of both the movie and the popcorn. The last time I gave in to the smell and bought it I was really disappointed. Yeah, it smelled great, but I'd lost my taste for it. I'd become conditioned to Healthy Pop in the microwave or air popped popcorn and now the other kinds just feel like eating a bucket of grease. I don't miss it at all anymore. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. And that you had a fantastic weekend. It is snowing here, too. Lightly, but still snowing.

I totally agree LR...the popcorn wasnt even good. It was greasy and upset my tummy. No wonder they offer free refills on the large...no one will take it!! lol.

J3- we dont go very often either. I am usually pretty picky about what I go see..the movie has to have good reviews. This one had good reviews, I just really didnt like it. Last movie I saw was The Help. I plan to go see the Hunger Games when it comes out next month. But DEFINATELY wont be stopping at the concession stand. Smile

Sounds like you had a really enjoyable weekend. Smile
I usually avoid the concession stands myself, but very rarely will maybe buy a candy and a drink - and even that can get up to $7 or $8 which is ridiculous!

It is obscene what they will charge for movie concessions. I am so annoyed by it that it leads me to bring my own treats with me, despite their preposterous rules. I'm such a rebel. Wink I'd rather have insurance of enjoying the movie, and that's impossible for me if they pillage my wallet for some licorice and a beverage.
