Jobs, a cruise and an update on the kids

November 5th, 2016 at 03:43 pm

This past month has been crazy stressful.

DH's job continues to look for ways to cut corners, which ultimately is going to cost workers a substantial amount...between health care provider changes, travel provider changes, hour cutbacks....egads. We keep skimming expenses. But it still is frustrating. I am grateful he still has a job.

Thankfully, I am getting a promotion at work soon, and I think the increase in my pay will offset most of the financial hit. I will find out in the next few weeks.

We are taking a cruise next weekend to Mexico. This was planned and paid for long before all this job stuff happened, and we could seriously use the break. Thankfully cruises to Mexico from the west coast are fairly inexpensive. Its our first and we are excited to give cruising a try!

Z update:

We have an important hearing coming up for the kids. Unfortunately, the bio family, rather than focus on fixing whats broke and creating a safe environment themselves (rehab, parenting classes, home visits, etc) are denying there is a problem, and rather, are doing everything possible to disqualify DD2 as a viable placement option. (false reports to her job, the police, child walfare, etc) The stress is taking its toll. Because of the constant distractions, DD2 lost her job. But she is keeping the best interests of the Kids at the forefront. Thankfully, the false accusations are all failing flat, the agencies are seeing right through this... and its only making the case stronger for the kids being removed permanently. I am concerned about whats next once they realize this latest barrage didn't work. DD2 will likely get a restraining order, just to help protect herself and the kids.

The hearing cant come soon enough. Their tactics are definitely out of our way of thinking...who knew it would get this ugly.

If only they would put this much effort into self reflection and counseling...

my heart breaks each time i read an update about the kids...i can't even imagine what this is like for you, your daughter and other family members, not to mention the poor kids. how long will it take for the courts to realize the difference between the craziness of the bio family and the love and nurturing of your family? keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers and really hope that the kids can be adopted and grow up with love and care that will hopefully break the cycle. sorry to hear about your daughter's job. Frown

I'm so sorry your daughter lost her job, but she sure is a blessing to those kids. Praying for all involved!

    *sigh*

We have a close relative who foster adopted kids #9 & #10 from a similar situation. I believe the BM was incarcerated most/all of that time. I keep thinking this is the drama that Foster kids #1 - 2 (or 3 or 4) and their foster parents must have gone through. Frown Even without the drama, these kids have disabilities that they will never overcome, and our relative has had them both since birth. & other random relatives tried to take the kids away over the years (though no one wanted them initially and of course they only want just one of the kids). Just a sad state of the system.

It takes very special people to take on these kids and to deal with these situations. ((HUGS))

Hope hearings for the kids eliminates the trauma/drama constantly added by the bio family. Is there a financial incentive or political pressure that keeps the bio family repeating their toxic actions? Do they get to keep repeating until each child reaches 18?

Wonder what cruise line you're taking. I hope it's ok to mention most people take way more stuff than they use and it's frustrating to deal with luggage given the size of the cabins. We thought the ship sponsored excursions were horribly overpriced and opted to use the locals whose vans were conveniently near the dock [at about half the cost]. We printed off the excursion details before leaving home. On two excursions, we joined other couples we'd met on board and split the cost + tip. The drivers/operators knew they had to get us back to the ship within our specified time frame.

Man, I hope the stuff with the kids gets settled soon in your daughter's favor.

I was wondering how your husband was fairing in all the slope upheaval. The jobs up there are really being eliminated left and right and the remaining ones are chipped away at, it's awful. Hope he keeps his job as long as possible. Don't want you to have to go through what we're going through.

Poor DD2 having to deal with this when all she is trying to do is provide a safe place for the kids! Enjoy your cruise to Mexico, sounds like you could do with some R&R.
