NY saga continues...

September 5th, 2006 at 08:41 pm

We received a notice from the NY DMV today...they finally opened DHs plea of NOT GUILTY and all of the supporting documents. Did they write to appologize for our inconvenience??

NOT EVEN CLOSE:

They have set a court date for October 31 at 2:30pm.

Here is what the notice states:

"If you do not come to this hearing your driver's license or priveledge to drive in NY will be suspended. If suspended, under NY vehicle and traffic law you willhave to pay a $35 suspension termination fee in addition to all other fines and penalties before your license or driving priviledges will be restored, WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE FOUND GUILTY OF THIS CASE."

In a nutshell, if DH doesnt go to the hearing and he is found NOT GUILTY, we will then have to pay $35 fee to get suspension removed because he failed to appear.

UNREAL. Is New York in such financial trouble that they have to continue to hardarm money from innocent people???

At this point all I can say is NY sucks.

Have you thought of writing to the NY NY Chamber of Commerce, the Mayors office, the Tourism people and let the know that you are telling everyone you know not to visit NY. Does the state of NY have an Ombudsman?

Failing that have you thought of writing an article for your local paper or telling the local TV station about this? This, while totally sad, is totally hilarious.

Can you go back to the person in your state who helped your husband get his license renewed? Maybe they can speak to someone on NY's end, or at least give you the name of someone there to speak to, to try and resolve this?

Sometimes it seems like fighting bureaucracy is a full-time job. Good luck!

Yummy64, I dont know if it will help, but I emailed the Mayor of Buffalo with the whole story and asked for his help in any way. I also mentioned that, after all of this, we have no desire to go to New York or to spend any of our vacation dollars to help their economy....Ill let you know if he replies.

And mjrube, I am going to ask Oregon for their help with this again...so thank you for the suggestion.

Sounds like someone in the NY DMV got pissed in Oregon because they wanted to pump their own gas. Smile
Wait a minute...you got a summons to go to NY traffic court on Halloween? Sounds like you already got the trick. Where's the treat?
