Funky, funky funk.

February 18th, 2009 at 02:33 am

HELP! I am in a funk. Where the heck do funk's come from...not really depression or sadness...just blah place that is neither happy or sad.

I have been trying to put my finger on the trigger...and haven't come up with anything in particular.

It's not due to finances. We are actually doing good right now and our plan is working nicely.

School is going fine...

as is the family...

So, what's up?

my diet...perhaps. I slip and slide all over the place..but tend to eat better more days than not. hmmm...

Housework? Boy would flylady have a field day around here right now. Maybe this is it?

Work...well, things are pluggin away. I am getting into the groove with all the new responsibilities and so far, have not sunk...I actually still love my job.

Me time? this could be it. I am so busy working, taking care of my mom, helping the kids budget, making grandbaby time, going to school, trying to redirect my troubled teen, take care of the house (or lately, not) and be a wife.

I have to say, it has been a while since I have done true ME time. I wonder if this is the reason for the funk?

I dont want to just 'go shopping' or start eating comfort foods...

I dunno. What do you do to get out of a funk? When you cant see the forest through the trees?

The hub and DD3 are going to a logging show on Saturday...maybe I should do something then...but what?

Usually, a free day like that is spent catching up on the housework...but ugh.

Ive saved most of my allowance this year, so I have plenty of money to do whatever...but I cant think of anything I want to do....

Funks suck. Help!

Oh, I think I'm there right now myself, in a funk. It's very strange for me, too. For me, I think it is the weather...I'm so ready for spring. Maybe you need a spring break trip...solo spa vacation or with a friend. Good luck!

CCF- perhaps it is the weather...I hadnt thought of that, but we have had a very small number of sunny days in months. Hmmm... Great thoughts! Thanks!

For me it's riding my bike - it always makes me feel better. Do you have something like that you can do with your free time?

Sorry you're feeling crappy. Getting outdoors for a walk (if the weather is nice enough) always helps me some. Or maybe plan a get-together with a friend or friends? Unless you think that catching up on the housework will give you a great feeling of accomplishment and chase some of the blues away. These aren't terribly exciting ideas, but maybe it doesn't need to be anything exciting, just something that gets you out of a rut.

A bike ride, a nap, a lovely bath, something cheap and cheering like a magazine or a container of raspberries?
A funny rental movie or one from the library? A library book and an afternoon to read it?
I'm all for a day to yourself to recharge.

A (home) spa day!... I love to put on an exfoliating masque (oatmeal and honey!), light a scented candle, soak in a bubble bath with a book and some nice music...makes me feel sooooo pampered!

I get the funk if I don't have anything planned, or if everything I've planned has happened. The above is good, but also planning your garden (should you do that sort of thing), maybe taking a quick class of something from extension, finding and visiting all the tourist traps in your area.

I was going to suggest taking a nice long soak in a bath with a good book and some relaxing music -- and making sure that all phones are turned to silent or off for a few hours. But I like Baselles ideas too. Smile

sometimes i feel like that. sort of restless, unsatisfied, bored, unsettled, unamused, not UNhappy but not overly happy either(so, like you said... BLAH!)

you mentioned you have most of your allowance saved up, why don't you do something that is totally out of character or out of your comfort zone?

the last time i felt blah, i went to a day spa with a friend. $30 to sit in some bubbles? yeah, but i felt invigorated, refreshed, relaxed and happy.
i've also been hiking with the same friend. we are getting a massage some time soon as well.

I don't know why, but I'm in a little bit of a funk myself. I guess it's just because money has been kind of tight right now. Anyway, I hope things will pick up for you soon!

I think having a troubled teen would not be a help in your life right now. I know, I have been there and done that. I just hope you feel happier soon.

    New haircut.

    Sunshine or fresh air.

Dirty house? I open the windows and let the breeze defunkify at least the house. Put on a "Ventures" tape or CD and a pair of shorts, a teeshirt and my favorite tenny-shoes, a facial mud-mask and then get after the cleaning.

A hot shower afterwards w/the works in the spa treatments, including a mani & pedicure.

    A nap.

Make a listing of things I'm grateful for in my life.

Curl up in bed and read to my hearts content.

Make plans of things that I'm going to do for the people I love in my life, even if it's just planning to write them a note or some such.
