laundry day

October 24th, 2006 at 03:45 pm

Will clothes dry on the line when it is only supposed to hit 65??? That is the question that I intend to answer today. I am willing to dry every other load in the dryer if need be...but I have a ton of laundry today and my goal is to get er done by end of day. Right now it is 41 out there...At least the clothes won't freeze Big Grin

I cooked a pork roast in the crockpot yesterday, so dinner is 1/2 done- just reheat and decide what to serve with. (Im thinking mashed potatoes and green beans)

I also need to write up a grocery list and get my coupons ready....

So it looks like a nice, busy day today.

Oh- I did get one bag ready for the dump and am working on one for goodwill...so I am confident that I will achieve the 2/1 bag goal by Friday!!! Declutter in progress!

My mom used to freeze-dry clothes when we were in the military in Montana. She'd hang my diapers and stuff outside and they'd freeze. Then she'd bring them in to thaw. I think she said it made them soft. I have never tried it myself.

Its 31 degrees here and snowing 65 sounds warm. I know that people here do hang clothes even when it is -20. They freeze dry like JanH says. I've never been nervy enough to do it.

My SM had us hang cloths out on the line in the winter when I was a kid. I hated it. Your fingers felt like ice cubes when you were done. I think it's harder on your clothes too. The weight of the freeze ends up streaching your clothes out IMO.

It took me 2 days of leaving my sheets on the line in 50 degree weather before they were dry. No wind. And I brought them in at night as I didn't want the dew to make them all wet again in the morning. But they did dry. I like to hang stuff out at least for a few hours in the sun, even if I have to finish them on the drying racks in the house.
