Have you lost weight?

November 24th, 2009 at 01:52 am

Big Grin

4 words that were music to my ears today. I have lost 14 lbs so far and I have had 3 people ask me if I am losing weight...Big Grin Big Grin

Best of all, I am doing it by being really healthy...instead of really starving or food obsessed. I am just learning good habits, thanks to Weight Watchers. ANd to think I was one of the biggest doubters of programs like this.

I came home from work early today...cough and headache won. I am ready to feel good and get ready for Thanksgiving. The kids and grandkids will all be here that morning for breakfast...and then my mom, DD3 and I will have a quiet dinner of homemade Chicken Picatta (our favorite).

Not doing Black Friday this year. I am working Friday- really, there is nothing we need from Black Friday. I am done shopping for the grandbabies and I am planning to do gift cards for the kids so they can partake of the after-Christmas sales...so no need to go with all the craziness that Black Friday promises. Good luck to everyone that does brave it.

The hub arrived safely back in ALaska...and DD3 is working tonight...so I (and all 14 less pounds of me Big Grin) am coughing in peace tonight...Smile ugh.

Life....is very good!

I LOVE Weight Watchers! Its a plan that really works. And as cheesy as it sounds, I agree with the idea that its a lifestyle change, not a diet Smile

Wow... 14#s is great. Congrats! Maybe I should try WW. Do you have to go to a lot of meetings?

is weight watchers the one with the points?

the only thing i can remember about WW is that a co worker of mine told me she was having a vanilla slice and that could be her lunch, because it was 4 points, and she just wouldn't eat anything else until dinner. i was like 'whaaaaat the...?'

but it sounds like you might be doing it with a bit of sensibility on the side. Big Grin

Yes it is points...and I go to one meeting for 30 minutes each week. Points should be a healthy mix of fruits veggies and whole grains and lean meats. For most people, thats a no-brainer...but for some of us, it takes concentration and planning...This program is helping me do that. Smile

I went to WW before they ever came up with the points system. It was based on servings of bread, veges, protein, fruits, fats, and dairy. It worked then too. But I quit working at it. Every time I get the motivation to lose weight again, I pull out the dog-eared info and do it all over. Yep, it still works. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around the "lifestyle change" part of it all.

I've lost nearly 40 lbs since 2005. I went from 210 in November 2005 to 171 as I type. I didn't do WW per se, but I keep a food diary, exercise regularly. Anything that keeps you mindful about what you eat (what WW does) is a good thing. Blind, mindless, bored eating will kill ya. And if you don't enjoy fully what you are currently eating...stop. You're not hungry. Smile

Great job! I am thinking about going back once we have the funds for it! I had lost 23 on WW. Just go to the thrift store for all of those "in between" sizes you will need! Have a great turkey day!
