Birthday Party and Football today-

September 9th, 2012 at 03:57 pm

Its been a busy few days and today is another busy one with birthday parties and football. (Go GREENBAY!)

The hub and I were both paid on Friday and all the budget buckets were refilled. I spent $56 at the grocery store, stocking up on lots of fruit, milk, yogurt, flour, eggs, butter, bacon, etc. I knew I was babysitting our lil foster boy last night, so I wanted to be ready. He is 20 months old and boy can that lil guy eat! He played hard all evening and its almost 9am and he is still asleep- DD3 and I wore the poor lil guy out! Big Grin

I have been working on changing food habits. It takes practice and focus to remind yourself what is ok and what is not. But so far, I am pleased with the progress. It definately helps to babysit. Last night I had 1 bite of yogurt and a half a bowl of soup...because once Z saw that I was eating, over he ran with mouth open. lol. He enjoyed the yogurt, soup and lots of fruit...some crackers, more fruit, some milk, string cheese, and whatever else he could find.

I am switching from bagels to oatmeal for breakfast. I will stay with a sandwich with more lettuce than meat for lunch (luckily I like mustard and not mayo) and dinner will be soup or chicken this week. I shouldnt have to buy any more groceries.

I took DD1 and my grandaughter (K) shopping yesterday for k's birthday- she is 7. Leopard prints are big this year and most of the items she chose, including a cute little hat- have the print on them. We went over budget a little (by about $15)...but that included buying the girls lunch (they split a meal at the mall).

I am going to pay DD3 $20 for helping me with Z last night. I am still not back to 100% and didnt have the energy to keep up with him all night.

Today should be a no-spender, since I have the grocery shopping done, over a half tank of gas still, and DD2s birthday present already. However, DD2 (pharmacy tech) recommended that I try allegra for this cough...she and the pharmacist both assured me that I wont have the side effects like I did last week. So I might stop and pick some up.

Well, I just heard Z waking up so time to go back to being gramma.

Hope everyones Sunday is a good one!

You do relief foster care?? That is so great!

We are watching the big game too, go Niners! Haha. OD is having a party. Her boyfriend was raised in Green Bay so a bet was made between him and my husband. She made a sign for her door (at her house) that says fans free admittance, Green Bay $50.00...hahaha...

Reading your post triggered me to post about food too. We are a lot alike. I like mustard too. Luckily I have lunch made each day for me at the assisted living facility where I work so I am ordering chef's salads all week, unless they have something too yummy to pass up, like the Chinese chicken salad from Friday. I am working on losing weight until my 55th birthday and then whatever weight I am that is it!

How nice that you get lunch made for you! that sounds like a nice perk!

My family and several co-workers beat me up for liking Greenbay...but I do. Im a big Aaron Rogers fan. But boy do I take a lot of razzing about it since I am orignally from Cali and still on the west coast. Big Grin

Greenbay is great, just not when they play the Niners. Wink I like Aaron Rogers too as he is a NorCal boy.

Oatmeal is my go to breakfast. I can put together a week's worth of oatmeal breakfast in 6 minutes. I have 5 ziploc containers - put 1/2 cup of old fashioned oats, a tb of brown sugar, and a handful of raisins, in each. Then the night before I add a cup of Rice Dream. In the morning I add a tb of ground flaxseed, and eat it straight out of the container. (I was just going to do this for when it is warm out and eating hot oatmeal isn't appealing ... but I may just continue doing it this way through the winter. So much faster than cooking oatmeal in the morning.)

That is still really wonderful that you treat him like a grandchild. I would too, but then I only have one and there is a lot of room in my heart for more.

I cook mine up on Sundays and then put the oatmeal, brown sugar and a little margarine in containers and grab one each morning on my way to work. I love oatmeal, so switching from bagels and cream cheese isnt too big of a deal. I just have to remember to make it, which I did tonight.

I am in metro Chicago. Sounds like we will both be up late on Thur since it is Packers/Bears. I suspect Packers will win THIS one since it is their home turf but watch out when you come here.
