OT - Good-bye to our Z- until we meet again

November 25th, 2013 at 08:57 pm

Frown

It is with a sad heart that I post that Z is leaving tomorrow morning. DD2 has to drop him off at the DHS office by 8:15am and he flies out with his grandma at 10am. That will be his first meeting with grandma, since she doesnt arrive here until midnight tonight. I wished there was more transition time for Z- at 32 months old, he will not understand.

Tonight I am going to DD2s to help pack Zs belongings and help get him ready- I am also going with her in the morning to be a shoulder if she needs one.

Fortunately, bio-dad is still doing everything possible to regain custody- but after watching this unfold, WHO KNOWS what will happen there.

All I know is that Z's little world as he knows it is about to change- and there is not much we can do to help him understand.

I hope and pray Z is resilient, and that grandma and her new husband are kind and loving- and that someday Z understands just how fully he was/IS loved by his extended family.

It is beyond sad. My heart is breaking for you. I'm trying to tell myself that most kids do land on their feet, their minds flexible enough to adjust to drastic changes, their hearts big enough to learn to love new guardians. But my first instinct when I read this was to burst out sobbing for the little guy, and for you and your daughter.

Truly heartbreaking! He's so young he may not remember this when he's older. But no matter what, the time and love your daughter gave to him will make him better.

Your daughter and family have filled the child up with love. What better foundation for childhood security and peace can there be than that? Still, so tender and vulnerable-- one cannot help but feel anxiety for him.

I'm so sorry, Ray. I was so hoping this day would never come. It is heartbreaking.

I think love is remembered, and he'll keep that with him. But so tough for you too.

Heartbreaking... I'm so sorry. Frown Prayers that "new" grandma is a wonderful person and you all can keep in touch.

Frown I am so so sorry to hear this Ray. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you and your DD2 have given him a loving and stable home/family life to begin his life. I've read in many studies that the first two or three years of a child's life are the most formative/important. I'll be praying for all of you.

I am so sorry. What a debacle. We can only hope that he will find love with his new family and that today's pain will lessen.

Thank you everyone. Little Izaiah left this morning. My daughter was so strong for him and made the morning fun and special until he waved and said "goodbye mommy, I wuv you". He thought he was just going bye bye. Oh, so broken hearted today. Frown Thank you for all of the supportive comments.
